About the Show
Join Maryclare Ramirez and Addie Elmer for a journey into the world of improv comedy and Commedia Dell’Arte in a week-long class from July 15-18, running daily from 4pm to 7:30pm. Dive into the fundamentals of improv with classic games, unified ensemble work, anthropomorphism, and physical comedy work. Throughout the week, students will work with Commedia characters, design their own masks, and master the art of the lazzi—a quick, comedic improvised scene. With hands-on workshops, group performances, and plenty of laughter, participants will hone their comedic skills and culminate the week with a lively showcase of their talents at CKP on Thursday.
Maryclare Ramirez is a CKP Alumni pursuing her BFA in Theatre Studies at Texas Christian University. Recently she has worked on Season 5 of TV show The Chosen, Grease at Casa Mañana Theatre, and Kodachrome at Circle Theatre. Teaching the talented students at CKP is one of her favorite jobs and she is so excited to spend the week learning from them!
Addie Elmer is pursuing her BFA in Acting at Texas Christian University. She is the President of TCU’s only improv comedy troupe, Senseless Acts of Comedy. Addie spent all of last summer teaching children’s theatre at Main Street Theatre in Houston, Texas and is super excited to be teaching more amazing kids about what she loves at CKP with Maryclare!
This is for Camelot/Excalibur Players in 7th-12th grade. Students as young as 5th grade may join with permission. Email michele@creativekidsplayhouse if you have questions.
