The Kathy Olson Theatre Festival is a one-of-a-kind six-day theatre competition! In just six days, festival participants audition, get cast, rehearse, and perform three different one-act plays written by Kathy Olson that are typically performed by our Mainstage troupe.

On the very first day, participants audition open-call style for three different Directorial teams made up of students, alumni, and friends of CKP. They will get cast in one of the three shows, rehearse for four days, and then perform these student-directed productions for a panel of judges made up of local theatre professionals, who will then give feedback and conduct a Q&A session with participants after their performances. On the final day of the Festival, students will have the opportunity to learn some Broadway choreography and attend a Q&A session with Thayne Jasperson, Hamilton Broadway’s original Samuel Seabury, who will be attending the festival virtually from New York City. After the Hamilton Dance Workshop, awards like “Best Musical” and “Best Performer” will be announced in a closing Awards Ceremony.
